2. Crossing the Irkeshtam Border

  • The Irkeshtam border is open Monday to Friday (except public holidays).
  • Opening hours: Usually 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM (Kyrgyz time), but check locally for changes.
  • You may need to switch vehicles at the Chinese checkpoint and take another taxi or shared transport to the Kyrgyz side.

3. From the Kyrgyz Border to Osh

  • Once you cross into Kyrgyzstan, you will reach Sary-Tash, a small village (about 70 km from the border).
  • From Sary-Tash, take a shared taxi or private car to Osh (4 hours drive).
  • There are no buses, so taxis are the best option

Train travel to Kyrgyzstan is limited and not recommended for most travelers due to long travel times and limited routes.

    • Details: This is the only direct international train route to Kyrgyzstan.
  • No Direct Trains from Almaty or Tashkent:
    • Travelers from these cities are better off using flights or road transport.
