Via Wakhan and Zor-Kol lake

Dear Travelers!

 This tour starts in Dushanbe and follows the Wakhan Corridor, but instead of continuing to Yashilkul and Bulunkul, the route turns toward Zorkul Lake. Zorkul is located in a border zone, and a special permit is required to enter the area. If you are interested in this tour, we can help you obtain the necessary permit in advance.

From Zorkul, the route continues through Chesh-Dobo to Murghab, and in the following days, travelers cross into Kyrgyzstan, heading toward Sary-Mogol and Tulpar-Kol for a trekking adventure, before ending the journey in Osh.

Day 1: Dushanbe – Kalaikhumb (360 km) Early departure towards the Pamirs. En route, stop for photos and refreshments. Visit the Nurek Reservoir, tasty the dried fruit markets, and continue through Kulob and Vose to the Hulbuk Museum.

After lunch, proceed to Kalaikhumb – the first settlement on the Pamir Highway. Dinner and overnight stay at a guesthouse (optional accommodation available from guesthouses to hotels, recommended options: Karon Palace, Roma Guesthouse, Zink).


Day 2: Kalaikhumb – Rushan – Jizev Bridge (205 km) onward trek to Jizev

Morning departure towards Rushan. Stops along the way to interact with locals and admire the breathtaking landscapes.

Upon arrival in Rushan, take a break and explore the surroundings. Enjoy views of the Panj River, which marks the border with Afghanistan, offering a glimpse of Afghan villages.

After lunch, drive to the Jizev Bridge and continue on foot to the village of Jizev. A scenic trek of about 2-3 hours follows through the Bartang Valley, revealing the unique Bartang River.

Overnight stay in a traditional village hut (basic conditions – sleeping bags and tents recommended).

Note: It is possible to shorten the trek to Jizev. If you do not like to go to Jizev, the route will continue straight to Khorog from Kalaikhum, and the subsequent routes will continue as indicated in this plan 4-day shortened.


Day 3: Jizev – Khorog (90 km) Morning return to the meeting point with the driver. Drive to Khorog.

After lunch, visit the Khorog Botanical Garden and browse souvenir shops. Khorog’s unique climate and mountainous scenery captivate visitors. (*If the visit falls on a Saturday or Sunday, the Afghan market in Khorog is worth exploring.)

Overnight stay at a hotel (recommended hotels: Pamir Palace, Pento, Lal, Kwikas)


Day 4: Khorog – Ishkashim – Langar (225 km) Departure to Ishkashim.

After leaving Khorog, drive up to the Garm Chashma hot spring (12 km round trip from the main junction). If you are traveling coincides on Saturday or Sunday, visit through the popular Afghan street market 2 km before enter Ishkashim. The entrance to the Ishkashim Gorge is the heart of the Pamir-Wakhan Corridor. Visit the Bibi Fatima thermal spring, explore the Yamchun fortress and admire the scenery along the Afghan border on the way to Langar. Overnight in Langar.


Day 5: Langar – Zorkul – Jarty-Kumboz Spring (182 km)

Journey to the high-altitude Zorkul Lake via the picturesque valleys of Karajylga and Cheshdobo.

Upon arrival at Jarty-Kumbaz hot spring, relax in a natural thermal pool. Overnight stay in the cottage house of Kuban.


Day 6: Arrival in Murghab (90 km) Drive to Murghab – the highest settlement in Tajikistan, historically the administrative center of the Kyrgyz region during the Soviet era.

Visit the local market and experience the culture of the Kyrgyz people in the Pamirs. Overnight stay in a guesthouse.


Day 7: Murghab – Kara-Kul Lake – Sary-Mogol (285 km) Early morning departure from Murghab.

Arrive at the southern shore of Kara-Kul Lake. Enjoy panoramic viewpoints and photo opportunities onward continue driving to the village of Sary-Mogol in Kyrgyzstan.

The route traverses two of the world’s highest mountain passes – Ak-Baital (4,655m) and Kyzyl-Art (4,280m), offering stunning scenery.

Overnight stay in a guesthouse.


Day 8: Sary-Mogol – Tulpar-Kol (25 km 1 hour) Arrival at Tulpar-Kul Lake.

Take a scenic hike from Tulpar-Kol through the base camp at Lenin Peak to Traveler’s Pass, or opt for a return via the Onion Meadow.

Overnight stay in a yurt camp.


Day 9: Tulpar-Kol – Osh (245 km) Arrival in Osh by midday.

Enjoy a delightful lunch at a local café or teahouse. Check into a hotel and explore Osh, visiting Suleiman-Too Mountain, the cave museum, and panoramic viewpoints before descending to parks and historical museums.

Dinner at a city restaurant. End of an unforgettable journey and farewell to service providers.
