Details

Tour Name: Alay Five Lakes Adventure.

Main Route: Osh – Keldyk Lake – Tulpar-Kol Lake – Kosh-Kol Lake – Besh-Kol Lakes – Osh.

Tour Duration: 5 days (4 nights).

Season: Mid June to Mid September.

Difficulty Level: Varies from easy to challenging (depending on the day).

Recommended Gear: Warm and waterproof hiking boots, trekking pants, a jacket, sunglasses, a hat, and sunscreen.

Mobile Coverage: Limited reception is available in some areas (Megacom or O!).

Total Duration: 8 hours.

Total Driving Distance: 260 km.

Minimum Elevation: 1,000 m (Osh).

Maximum Elevation: 3,640 m (Taldyk Pass).

Overnight Altitude: 2970 m (Sary-Mogol).

Morning departure from Osh (airport or hotel). Scenic drive via Chiyirchyk 2394m and Taldyk Passes 3,640 m. on the way walking on the following lakes.

• Kolduk Lake: easy lakeside walk (1h); good photo points; seasonal fishing.

Up and down: 286 m and 248m distance: 4km (one way) altitude: 2465m/2580m.

• Gejige “Emerald Lake”: moderate walk (about 2 hours round trip) from the yurt area; optional yurt lunch.

Up and down: 380 m and 20m distance: 2km (one way) altitude: 2520m to 2890m.

Arrival in Sary-Mogol. If you feel strong: 1–2 hour gentle walk around the village for acclimatization.

Dinner and overnight in Sary-Mogol guesthouse.

Difficulty: Easy to Moderate (where is walking to the lakes).

Overnight altitude: Approx. 2970 m.

After breakfast, our driver will take you to the Tulpar-Kol Yurt Camp (approximately a 1-hour drive). Once you arrive, leave your heavy bags in the yurt and begin your trek towards the Panorama View Lakes.

The trail offers breathtaking panoramic views of the Alai Valley and surrounding peaks, making it a perfect spot for photos and moments of reflection in the serene high-altitude environment. After soaking in the stunning scenery, return to the yurt camp for a well-deserved rest.

Total distance: 33km.

Driving distance: 22km 40min driving.

Hiking time: 11km, 4 hours (excluding lunch and break time).

Ascent/Descent: 3390/3670 meters.

Highest and lowest points: 4100/3500 meters.

If you're tired from previous hikes, you can simply relax and enjoy the breathtaking views of the lake. Perhaps take a short two-hours walk around the lake and rest in preparation for next grand alpine adventure.

In the evening arrive back to Sary-Mogol by car.

Overnight Elevation: 3,470 m (tent next to shepherd’s yurt).

After breakfast, you’ll be driven deep into the Turkestan-Alay Range, reaching the trailhead located in one of the most remote and elevated regions of southern Kyrgyzstan. Today’s hike offers an immersive experience into untouched mountain wilderness, with glacial lakes, rocky terrain, and sweeping views. The trek begins with a steady climb toward Kosh-Kol Lake, a solitary, rocky lake that glows emerald green under the high-altitude sun. Continuing the ascent, you’ll reach the beautiful and secluded Damjayloo Lakes, a cluster of alpine lakes hidden among rugged ridgelines and wildflower meadows. Around midday, you’ll take a break for lunch beside the lakes, surrounded by dramatic mountain scenery and peaceful silence. Afterward, the trail descends toward the evening’s campsite, located near a traditional shepherd’s yurt. Here, you can observe local nomadic life and gain insight into centuries-old Kyrgyz traditions. Overnight in tents under a sky full of stars, embraced by the tranquility of the mountains.

Total hiking duration: 6-7 hours.

Driving from meeting point to trekking path: 2.5h.

Maximum Elevation:~4280 m (Sary-Mogol pass).

Overnight: Besh-Kol 3408 m or 11183 feet.

Difficulty Level: Moderate.

After a light breakfast in the fresh mountain air, you’ll walk to the meeting bridge of transportation onward drive the trail of hidden Besh-Kol Lakes. In Kyrgyz, “Besh-Kol” means “Five Lakes,” and the trail leads you to a series of shimmering alpine lakes, each tucked between cliffs and alpine meadows, surrounded by snowy peaks.

The trail follows a narrow gorge along the banks of a mountain stream and climbs gradually via rocky switchbacks. You’ll pass wild pastures, herds of yaks, and untouched nature as you ascend.

The silence, broken only by the sounds of wind and water, adds to the serene and mystical character of the area. As you arrival in the Sary-Mogol and lakes area your night in tent near the lakes.

Walking time to Sary-Mogol: 4 hours.

Driving time to Osh: approximately 4 hours.

After a relaxed morning at the camp, you will walk back to Sary-Mogol village. From there, you will begin the return journey to Osh, marking the end of this five-day adventure through the stunning lakes and alpine valleys of the Alay Mountains.

Upon arrival in Osh, you are expected to reach the city at around 17:00, followed by a transfer to your hotel.

For your information, on the next day (not included in the program), an excursion to the sacred Suleiman-Too Mountain, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, can be arranged. This optional visit offers a wonderful cultural conclusion to a journey filled with breathtaking landscapes, hiking, and authentic nomadic experiences.
